Villa casa Tomise was built in 2013, constructed in the Andalucian style of architecture but with a modern twist encompassing large panoramic windows and high ceilings providing bright spacious living accommodation.
The land extends down to the shore-line 100 metres below, and the only sounds you can hear are those of the waves, birds and the cicadas of an evening – an unbeatable location in which to relax and unwind. The views are outstanding: the Mediterranean Sea, the town of Salobreña with the mountains as a back-drop and an extensive coast-line.
All main rooms on the ground level open out onto the terrace, and have views of the pool and the wide expanse of blue Mediterranean Sea. There is a large open-plan living area with a sunken arched lounge giving way to two large sofas, a leather armchair, an open fire and flat-screen TV with international channels available. The dining room allows seating for up to 8, has a sideboard packed full with games and a well-stocked book case. The well equipped kitchen has a central island unit with additional sink and a wood topped breakfast bar area. Worktops are all granite and the units are made of painted oak. There is a large fridge, 4-ring gas hob, electric oven, and dish-washer. To the rear of the kitchen is a utility area with washing machine, microwave and a freezers. There is also a toilet on this level.
The bedrooms are all located on the first floor. Three of the four bedrooms face south and have uninterrupted views of the sea. The fourth bedroom looks out onto the small ‘zen’ courtyard below. All bedrooms have balconies and are fitted with air-conditioning (they also have fans in case you don’t like A/C and prefer to open the windows and listen to the waves). Two of the bedrooms have king size beds with en-suite shower rooms (the master room has a jacuzzi shower); there is another standard double and a twin-bed room and a family bathroom with a double-sink.
On the upper level there is a large roof terrace.
Outside there are various alcoves and tables for eating – including a beautifully arched dining area. To the side of the house is a small ‘zen’ garden with fountain – a lovely quiet hide-away if life in the pool becomes too hectic! On the pool terrace there is a large pergola which provides much needed shade from the mid-day sun and has a comfortable corner unit. There is a gas BBQ on this level. The infinity pool is saltwater (much softer on the skin, hair and eyes), with underwater lighting system and a separate part of the pool with hydro massage and 8 seats. There is also an outside shower on this level.
There is an easy access to Malaga, Granada or Almeria airport. If you can manage yourself away from this marvellous villa, there are lots of things to see and to do. A 20 minutes walk along the coastal path will bring you to the small fishing pueblo of La Caleta with its beach, local shop and three bars/restaurants; or 5 minutes in the car will take you into the heart of Salobreña with many more shops, tapas bars and beaches. A little further afield are the towns of Almunecar and Motril (15 minutes in the car) or Nerja (30 minutes) with some excellent restaurants, markets, museums, water-park, aquatic centre, cave and castles to explore. The ski area of the Sierra Nevada where you can also enjoy great walking and hiking is less than 75 minutes away, so you can ski during the morning (from December tot April) and relax on the beach or at the pool in the afternoon. There is a golf course 10 minutes away that is located right on the beach. The picturesque mountain villages of Las Alpujarras are nearby as well as the wonderful cities of Granada with the world famous Alhambra Palaces (50 minutes) and Malaga with its historic downtown, the cathedral and the Picasso museum (60 minutes).
Salobrena benefits from the subtropical microclimate with over 300 days of sunshine a year and average temperature of over 20 degrees C. For those interested in sighseeing art, architecture and history this region offers the best of what Andalusia provides. You will be charmed and overwhelmed by the beauty of the region. Small white washed villages on the top of the hills, tropical nature, sounds of flamenco and of course the richness and variety of the Spanish food.
Please note that the infinity pool makes it unsuitable for small children under 12, however babies are welcome.
The villa is registered at Registro de Turismo de Andalucia (Andalusian Tourism Registry Bureau) with the RTA number: VFT/GR/00839
